Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's first championship after the Rome competition and first on a hard court since spring of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct events.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play assertively, backed up by an better service.
He fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Moutet, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.
The pair swapped break points in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a final set.
Moutet defended 4 initial break points in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
